Network Port Splitter

i have a braodband connection with an adsl splitter,?

i have a braodband connection with an adsl splitter, there is one USB port Type B male, and one standard ethernet jack and I am using one laptop (wired) and one desktop (wired) sharing the same internet connection. What equipment will satisfy my needs: - able to share wireless internet connection among both the devices, laptop will use 802.11b PCMCIA card? I arrived at "Wireless modem/adsl modem linksys, usrobotics etc" but I am not sure whether this is what I would need? Anybody have a howto page on setting up a simple home Wireless Network?
I have already exhausted the option of calling service centres because most of them are a) incompetent b) lazy c) more money-minded than efficiency-oriented and d) i am away from urban area.

Purchase a wireless router, any type is fine, but in your case you said a 802.11b card, so make sure it is B compatible (most are G or better). Hook the xDSL modem via the ethernet connection into WAN port on router. Hook PC up via same cable type from LAN port on router to network connection on PC. Read directions that came with router, it will tell you how to access it and set it up (default settings work fine, just change the password).

The router will come with one cable, and you may have been left with a cable from the xDSL modem. If not you will have to buy a cable, a short one should be fine from router to modem, or a longer one if needed for router to PC. Once you log in to router, you can setup wireless portion. Directions are usually fairly simple.
